About Us

about RMPS

From the Founder

Rocky Mountain Psychological Services (RMPS) began with a simple but enduring belief: when families truly understand what they are facing, meaningful change becomes possible.

Over the past 30+ years as a psychologist, I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, parents, and families navigating a wide range of developmental, emotional, behavioural, learning, and mental health challenges. Early in my career, I spent much of my time working directly in homes, daycare settings, and preschools across Central Alberta, supporting children with special needs and collaborating closely with caregivers and educators. Those experiences shaped the way I continue to practice today, grounded in relationships, real-world application, and a deep respect for the environments children grow and develop in.

At RMPS, my focus has always been on helping families make sense of complex concerns in a way that feels clear, compassionate, and actionable. I believe effective therapy is not just about addressing symptoms, but about understanding the whole person, their strengths, their context, and the patterns that may be keeping them stuck. From there, we work together to create treatment plans that are practical, flexible, and revisited over time so that progress remains meaningful and sustainable.

Over the years, I have integrated training across a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Synergetic Play Therapy, Jungian Sandplay, Neurofeedback, Adlerian Therapy, Adlerian Play Therapy, and the Play Therapy Dimensions Model. This diverse foundation allows me to adapt care to each child and family’s unique needs, with Adlerian and play-based approaches often playing a central role in my work with younger clients.

As Clinical Director, I am also proud to lead a multidisciplinary team committed to supporting families through complex presentations, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, learning differences, trauma, emotional regulation challenges, and relationship difficulties. Collaboration is central to our approach, and we regularly work alongside schools, physicians, and community partners to ensure families receive coordinated support.

In addition to my clinical work, I serve as President of the Council of the College of Alberta Psychologists and am a Canadian Certified Play Therapist. These roles continue to reinforce my commitment to ethical practice, ongoing learning, and high professional standards across everything we do at RMPS.

Outside of my professional life, I value time with my four adult children, time in nature, travel, and learning. That sense of curiosity about people and their stories is what continues to guide my work every day.

our Mission

perspectives & psychological understanding

Founded in 1996, RMPS Psychological Services has remained committed to one central belief: true healing begins when self-awareness is paired with the right tools for growth.

We believe that changing perspectives and psychological understanding is powerful, but insight alone is not enough. Our mission is to help individuals and families translate that understanding into practical, everyday strength. By bridging the gap between behaviour and understanding why that behaviour makes sense or changing the way a person understands what is happening, we empower our clients to navigate life’s ups and downs with greater clarity and confidence.

Through comprehensive assessment, thoughtful therapy, and collaborative support, we provide the guidance and resources necessary to turn the current situation into forward movement. Whether the work involves gaining new perspective, developing skills, processing past experiences, or strengthening resilience, our goal is the same: lasting emotional well-being grounded in both insight and action.

Together, we ensure that each journey of self-discovery becomes a foundation for long-term emotional resilience, stability, and growth.

our Vision

Clarity & Psychological Insight

Our vision is to be a trusted source of clarity and psychological insight for individuals and families across the lifespan.

We are dedicated to supporting meaningful growth by helping people navigate life’s most complex emotional and developmental challenges with confidence. We envision a community where mental health care goes beyond symptom management, where psychological barriers are understood, practical strategies are accessible, and emotional well-being is prioritized as a foundation for long-term resilience.

By offering thoughtful assessment, actionable guidance, and developmentally informed support, we aim to help individuals cultivate clearer perspective, stronger coping abilities, and a more balanced approach to daily life. Every recommendation, resource, and therapeutic intervention is designed to serve as a stepping stone toward greater self-understanding and empowerment.

Ultimately, our vision is to help individuals and families move beyond confusion and overwhelm, clearing the mental fog so that resilience, confidence, and true potential can emerge with strength and stability.

Our Approach

Everything we write about reflects how we practice.

We Address Executive Functioning

From children forgetting homework to adults constantly playing catch-up, executive functioning challenges require structured support. We provide strategies that reduce cognitive overload and increase confidence.

We Support Across the Lifespan

ADHD, anxiety, learning differences, and relational challenges do not disappear with age. We work with children, teens, and adults to provide developmentally appropriate care at every stage.

We Strengthen Relationships

Mental health does not exist in isolation. Our work consistently centers around emotional connection within families, partnerships, and caregiving relationships.

We Look Beneath Behaviour

Rather than asking, “How do we stop this?” we ask, “What is this behaviour protecting, expressing, or solving?” This shift creates space for compassion and effective intervention.

We Support Emotional Understanding

Emotions are not problems to eliminate, they are signals to understand. We help individuals and families make sense of what is happening beneath the surface by developing insight, gaining perspective, and processing experiences in a safe and supportive space.

We Build Skills for Growth

At times, growth involves strengthening regulation and coping skills. At other times, it means learning new strategies, developing flexibility, improving problem-solving, seeing the issue from a different perspective, or building resilience. Our work is tailored to what each individual needs, not limited to one framework, but guided by thoughtful, comprehensive care.

What We Do

Assessment ,Therapy & Support

Comprehensive Psychological Assessments

Our assessments provide clarity around attention, learning profiles, emotional functioning, developmental differences, and behavioural concerns. We go beyond diagnosis to deliver practical recommendations that translate into everyday life.

Therapy & Intervention

We provide therapy that integrates emotional regulation, executive functioning support, trauma-informed care, and relational work. Sessions are structured yet compassionate, balancing accountability with understanding. Because words and talking are not the best way to work with everyone, we have a variety of ways we can meet people where they’re at – we do traditional talk therapy and we have clinicians trained in play therapy and expressive arts therapy as well as neurofeedback therapy to meet your needs.

Parent & Family Support

Caregivers are central to change. We guide parents in responding to emotional needs rather than reacting only to behaviour, strengthening both confidence and connection at home.

our core values

Connection Over Correction

Emotional safety is the foundation for growth.

Understanding Before Intervention

Assessment and therapy begin with curiosity, not assumption.

Structure Without Shame

Executive functioning and behavioural challenges deserve support, not criticism.

Clarity Creates Change

When individuals understand how their brain and emotions work, they can move forward with intention.

Our Commitment

From Conflict to Connection

At RMPS Psychological Services, we are committed to translating psychological science into practical, compassionate care.

The conversations we share publicly reflect the work we do privately: helping families move from frustration to understanding, from conflict to connection, and from confusion to clarity.

Cassandra White

Cassandra Hillman White is the Owner and Clinical Director of Rocky Mountain Psychological Services (RMPS). A Registered Psychologist with more than 30 years of experience, Cassandra works with children, adolescents, parents, and families facing a wide range of developmental, emotional, behavioural, learning, and mental health challenges. She is known for her thoughtful case conceptualization, collaborative approach, and commitment to helping families understand both the challenges they are facing and the path forward.

Cassandra’s career began working with children with special needs and their families throughout Central Alberta. From supporting parents in their homes to consulting with daycare and preschool programs, she developed a deep appreciation for the importance of relationships, developmental understanding, and practical strategies that families and educators can use in everyday life. These early experiences continue to shape her work today.

Throughout her career, Cassandra has pursued extensive training across multiple therapeutic approaches, allowing her to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. Her clinical background includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Synergetic Play Therapy, Jungian Sandplay, Neurofeedback, Adlerian Therapy, Adlerian Play Therapy, and the Play Therapy Dimensions Model. While she draws from a variety of evidence-informed approaches, Adlerian principles and play therapy frameworks have become particularly influential in her current work with children and families.

Cassandra believes that effective therapy begins with understanding the whole person. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, she works collaboratively with clients and families to explore the factors contributing to current challenges, identify strengths, and develop meaningful goals. She values creating clear treatment plans that are reviewed and adjusted over time, ensuring clients remain active participants in their own growth and healing.

As Clinical Director, Cassandra leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and families across complex presentations, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, learning difficulties, emotional regulation concerns, trauma, behavioural challenges, and family relationship difficulties. She also works closely with schools, physicians, allied health professionals, and community agencies to help families access coordinated and effective support.

In addition to her clinical work, Cassandra serves as President of the Council of the College of Alberta Psychologists and is a Canadian Certified Play Therapist. She brings her commitment to ethical practice, professional excellence, and lifelong learning into every aspect of her work.

Outside of the office, Cassandra enjoys spending time with her four adult children, exploring nature, travelling, and continuing to learn. Her curiosity about people and their stories remains at the heart of the work she has loved for more than three decades.
